A Staffordshire bull terrier is bred to pull. Putting a harness on a 30 to 40 pound dog of this breed is just asking for trouble. This breed needs to be trained with a choke collar which will only take a couple of months. Using a choke collar does not require hard yanks that can injure the dogs neck. gentle tugs beginning at about the age of six months is a good time to begin but requires consistent training. Using this method with my past seven dogs has allowed me to have great walks with all learning to heal without a leash within a few months. When I started looking for a choke collar for our newest puppy a couple of years ago I was surprised to see that they were available in gold. My concern was that the gold would wear off quickly but that has not proved to be the case. It is a beautiful collar that is well-made and holds up well.
