We really did not want to get this for our dog but we had such problems with the uncontrollable barking. After much hemming and hawing, we finally decided to get one that had alternatives to shocking but could also shock as a last resort. Once we got it in I tested all 9 levels on myself and none of them hurt. Level 9 just made my hand twitch when applying it to the underside of my wrist. We then planned on how we would use this to curb the behavior which was as follows.1. Utilize a key word for the verbal command. We used STOP2. If the command was ineffective we vibrate the collar with using the verbal command3. If the vibration did not work, beep the collar and use the verbal command4. If the beep did not work, apply the shock with the verbal command.That was our plan and suffice to say we have only used the shock once. After that the command works every time and we only need to reinforce with the beep on the collar by just taking the collar off the charger, which beeps when it is plugged in to the charger or unplugged from it. I think this is a poor choice from the manufacturer, but we have it work for us. If we have a large gathering g of people at our place we will put the collar on him just so he keeps from barking uncontrollably at other people for the first hour and gets comfortable with everyone.But that's it. I'm so glad we have had to use the shock only once and it took a few dials to get the level he responded to as 1 - 4 elicited no reaction from him, but 5 did the trick. For anyone looking to use this, I highly recommend you go into using this collar with a clear plan and goal as to not confuse the dog as to what you want from them. So far we have only used it for excessive barking at people walking by the house. We allow a bark or two since that is ok and he now will only bark once or twice and then just growl and whine.Almost perfect - Good control, the audio beep is a nice feature to give a warning before the vibrate or shock. Can't speak to the water proof part as we haven't gone there yet.Only complaints:1. the 'antenna' doesn't stick out through the holes in the collar - receivers move around a lot.2. In order to train two dogs at once, you have to pay attention to which dog's collar is selected on the transmitter - or set it to both. Would have been REALLY nice to have the ability to use for each dog without having to switch back and forth3. The receivers have to be reprogrammed each time you turn them off and back on - not a huge issue but if you forget and turn both on at the same time you'll sync them both to one channel.Overall this is a nice set of collars - after just 36 hours and 4 times outside with them, both of my rowdy 18 month old dogs will stay close to me with very little reinforcement. I also use little tiny pieces of cut up hot dog to reinforce good behavior - for example when they come back and sit right away.Will be looking into purchasing a second transmitter so we don't have to keep going back & forth between dogs.i am very happy with this collar....we have had the cheaper esky ones before and my very large irish setter who love he water, breaks them in 6 months or rather they are broken within 6 months and the remotes as well...this one he has had since april and had no problems replacing the recievers as they are covered under their warranty but hold up WAY better then the others. They are MUCH sturdier and come with a nice bright, easily seen collar. ...but if you are needing it for training with a lab or a hunting dog. I would recommend a higher grade one. This does what I need it to do and often only need to use the beep setting. the only complaint I have is the bark collar part is terrible. he scratches his neck and it goes off but if he barks it doesn't work at all even with the gradual correction settings. I have noticed a lot of bark collars are like that.I use this to help correct a bad barking habit one of my dogs has developed. It is a great training aid, as long as you use verbal commands first, then the audible beep, then the vibrate, and last resort...shock. I like the adjustable shock level. This collar works well. The only reason I don't give it 4 stars is because if you need to correct both dogs at once, you have to switch over to the 2-dog setting by pressing the torch button, then the dog button to switch. Usually by the time you do that, the barking is done and it's too late to correct the dog, as you want to correct them in the middle of the bad behavior. It would be nice to have a button that just activates both dog collars at the same time. The auto bark feature seems to initiate when the dog shakes its head too..which is not good, so I leave it off. Other than that, these are good quality and seem to be working well after about 6 weeks of use.It's certainly worth the price. It appears to work. I am disappointed with the collars. The are stiff and not easy to work with. They are way to big for a medium size dog and you will have to trim the down or order shorter collars. I don't really like the trade off of a non-rechargeable remote for submersible collars. It would have been nice if the remote lit up a little better. The buttons are hard to see in low light. I plan to return and purchase separate collars for each dog with a rechargeable remote that are also submersible. I don't want to be replacing batteries in that remote on a regular basis. This is my first purchase for a training collars so the dissatisfaction is purely based on what I feel would better serve my needs. I have found no fault with the performance of the collar or setting them up. The two collar training pack is probably better suited for boundary training and hunting and not bad habits that need to be corrected. I think for the money is it a good choice.Has helped stop unnecessary barkingUseless!
