I read most of the reviews AFTER I ordered this (I know, I know) and started to panic when a lot of them weren’t great, specifically about the flimsy locks for the doors. At that point, I figured I’d just have to wait and see for myself. My wait was shorter than expected as the crate arrived a day earlier than anticipated.I unboxed the crate and immediately inspected for defects or missing pieces. All pieces were accounted for but there was a very minor scratch on one of the trim pieces that go on towards the bottom. It was very small and I honestly can’t say if it was shipped like that or if I was not careful and made the scratch when unboxing. It was so tiny though so I was ok with it.The instructions state that it’s best to have two people assemble the dog crate but I did it myself and it was fairly simple. The instructions could be better; there were only pictures and they were not that great either but I was able to figure them out just fine. One thing I think is odd, is that there is a latch that goes on the inside of the double doors. I guess that maybe they added this to make them more secure after receiving customer feedback but it’s in a strange and inconvenient place. It does make those doors much more secure though. I tested how it sturdy the latches were on the double doors without that inside lock and they were pretty flimsy. I locked it back up and it’s very secure again. I have tiny hands so I can maneuver them in to flip the lock but I could see it being an issue for someone with regular to larger sized hands. Now, I have thought that maybe I put the lock on incorrectly but I aligned them with the pre drilled holes and followed the drawing on the instructions; I think it’s just the way it is.In truth, at one point during assembly I thought that it was not going to be sturdy at all but once I tightened the flat screw things (Idk what they’re called) it became much more structurally sound. Dare I say, it’s pretty sturdy! Just don’t turn the screws too tight.Once I finished with the assembly, I was relieved that the crate was better than how it’s described in many of the reviews. It’s super cute! I felt that it wasn’t necessary to use wood glue or attach additional latches, as some have, when I had everything together. I’m not opposed to doing so if I have to in the future, but i think it’ll keep my dog safe and secure as it is now.I will note that the tray that is included is a bit small, but I put my dog’s bed on top of it and that fits perfectly. I have an adult dog and this will work fine for us but, because there isn’t a bottom, I’d probably recommend another crate if you are buying for a puppy or to crate train.Speaking of my dog, I adopted him about a year ago. I bought a canvas crate when he first came home and he did not like it AT ALL. With this new crate though, he’ been lounging in there like he’s owned it for years. He appears very comfortable and seems to love it!Pros:AttractiveEasy to AssembleSturdyDog loves itConsWeird inside placement for extra lock for the double doors (that’s if I assembled it correctly)I love the look of this and the idea that a crate doesn't have too look like crate. BUT this thing is made of cardboard practically. It is NOT real wood. Like if it got wet it would disintegrate. We put my super anxious French Bulldog in there to go to my birthday dinner, and by the time we got back he had chewed. the bars off and hopped right out the window of it. Now he is a chewer when it rains. Didn't rain. Also it didn't last us 3 hours of any use... Then he goes back for more and chewed the whole door away the next day and he wasn't even inside. Yes, I know my dog is an absolute nightmare and its mostly him... But he should not be able to get through this thing so easily. Wish I could get my money back but I'm not even trying with this situation lolI'd give it 5 stars if it actually had a bottom floor.THE BAD: The medium cage gives them 18'x28" it's a small medium IMHO. If your dog has to spend a long time in its crate every day, please give them room to stretch out. Don't be cruel. That being said, I usually have to crate my pupsfor no longer than 2 hours so I COULD put them both in here since they ball up when they sleep. I usually only crate the black one because she's a bit destructive still (8 months) These dogs are 10-12 lbs. I'd say if your pup is 15lbs+ you need a large crate! My little dogs are not the type to try to escape so it's not an issue but BEWARE- if you have an escape artist, you 'll need to modify this crate. This crate has NO FLOOR and just sits over a plastic pan. It has a piece of wood like a threshold that just sits in the tray removal gap. It does not attach, hinge or snap in. This could easily be pushed out, giving your little Houdini ample room to raise the cage up with its snout and wiggle their body out.I thought about drilling 2 holes through both pieces and dropping in 2 removable pins but i don't think it'll be an issue with my pups.THE GOOD. It's very easy to put together- just remember to figure out what end you want the single door to be on (double doors being the front). All hardware was included. It's sturdy. It doubles as a window bench for my 12lb rattweiler to watch the cats outside and its sturdy enough for her to jump on and off all day. It's very pretty and came nicely packed. No scratches or blemishes.I'm probably going to order another one now that i've seen this in action.Their is no bottom to the kennel. Instead there is a black plastic tray that doesn't fit the diameter of the kennel. I had my husband add a white board to the bottom of the kennel. If your dog is a chewer, this is not the kennel for you. My dog chewed through the sticks of the windows and was able to climb out. This cage is really cute and easy enough to assemble. Works great for my chihuahua as she still has plenty of room. Could probably fit two little beds for two small dogs.First off if you want to return this shipping it is not free and was going to be over $100, so we kept it.Took about 45 minutes to put together, lots of pieces. My 12 lb. Pup loved it until the first thunder storm and he broke right through it. I emailed the company, and after my second email to them (because their first reply had nothing to do with my first email) they pretty much just told me I was on my own for their faulty product. For $170, I’m sure their is a better quality one out there.I wasn't 100% convinced due to some of the reviews but decided to take a gamble and I must say it was well worth it. The crate is not the biggest on the market but the wood surrounding really turns it into a useable piece of furniture and masks the actual use. Very well made slots together easy and very sturdy (just make sure you push it all together properly)Lovely piece of ‘furniture’ to finish off our newly decorated bedroom. We have to have the pooches in our room so this made the room look finished. Probably could do with very front having some kind of securing to keep in place. But i am delighted overall with productLooks really stylish. The wooden frame is a bit flimsy, as the top is only balancing on the stills. But the cage itself is really sturdy and has removable tray and 2 doors. Overall I’m happy with this product.Love this beautiful piece of furniture and my pup just loves it. Admittedly the clasps are very week and not suitable for a big dog but for my lil Pom it’s perfect. 5*Lovely to look at but far too expensive for quality. It isn't sturdy. It comes apart when you move it etc.
